WFS Report 2023 Edition

We are pleased to announce that SPSG Consulting continues to collaborate with World Football Summit and that we have co-organised a workshop as part of "World Football Summit 2023"; the event where the entire football industry comes together (held in Seville on 20-21 September 2023).

The global sports tourism market is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 12% from 2021 to 2027, with an expected economic impact of around USD 1,700 billion, where football tourism is expected to account for 40% of the industry's economic potential. In total, sports tourism represents around 10% of the world's tourism flow and has become an almost mandatory element of the strategies of all sports stakeholders, a fundamental tool for local and national economic development.

With more than 40 sessions and workshops, one of them focused on the "Impact of football tourism on destinations", led by Carlos Cantó and the SPSG Consulting team. This seminar served as the basis for this report, incorporating input from industry professionals, an online survey, SPSG's experience and literature reviews. The collaboration enriched the report with diverse perspectives and views on the impact of football tourism, and we acknowledge and thank them for their input and dedication.
